Atom A’s earn silver at the Aurora International Silver Stick Tournament.

The Saugeen Maitland Atom A’s had another great tournament showing in Aurora at the International Silver Stick Tournament.

The team started the weekend with a 3-2 loss against the Anaheim Lady Ducks.  After the loss the Team regrouped with a convincing win against Caledon, and another win against Orangeville to secure a spot in the semi finals.  The Lighting drew Orangeville again in the semi’s where they pulled out another win to face the Ducks again in the tournament finals.

The Championship game was an exciting one.  The Lighting tied the game up in dramatic fashion late in the game to put it into Overtime.  Neither team was able to finish it after a 5 minute sudden victory OT. The Ducks managed to pull out the win in a tough shootout loss for the Lightning.

Despite the loss, the team made its 4th appearance in a tournament final.  The Atom A’s have made it to the finals in every tournament they have entered this year.  They have won 2 of 4 tournaments they have entered and have never lost a final in regulation time.  The only 2 championship games they have lost this year were decided by close shootouts.

Focus now turns to LLFHL Playoffs, and OWHA Playdowns in an effort to earn a spot in upcoming provincial and championship weekends so that they can work to continue this years tournament success.

GO Lightning!! #MilkUp
